All About Mary

The Fabric Patch, Inc.

I owned my quilt shop, The Fabric Patch, Inc., in downtown Madison, South Dakota for 7 years.  I retired and closed the downtown store in 2004 and continued to sell quilt supplies through the shop's website for 2 more years.  While teaching beginning quilting classes at the shop, I saw the need for patterns for my students to use to set the Sampler Blocks they were making in class into a quilt.  I couldn't find anything fast, easy and affordable, so I designed the All Around the Block quilt pattern series.  The patterns were very popular at the shop.  I sell them wholesale to other quilt shops, too.

Moose keeps me company while I sew.  He is a great "chair warmer" during those cold SD winters.

A Little Bag of Little Pieces to Make a Little Quilt

Alittle bag of little pieces to make a little quilt

Aren't these little bags cute?  They sold like hotcakes at the shop!  I design the pattern, write the instructions, cut all the pieces and put them in these little bags for you.  Great gifts for a quilting buddy or yourself.  Why not order one of each?  They are addictive.  More designs coming soon so check back often.

Website Design

Arg!About 3 years into running the quilt shop I could tell that I really needed a website for the shop, but my days were already full with everything involved with running the business.  So I tried to hire someone to develop the website. From that moment forward it was an uphill battle. I discovered that if you don't talk geek, you can't communicate with a web developer. In the end I took the time to learn web design and maintained the site on my own.  It's true when they say the lessons you learn while making mistake after mistake are the ones you remember! I used the web development skills I learned to set up a website for the Boy Scout Troop my family is involved with. Then I set up a site for my dad's product, www.superchock.com .
I could tell that there is a need for a web designer who is willing to set up and maintain sites for small businesses at a reasonable price. And I can do it from home! Let me design a site for your business.  Check out what I can offer you by following these links: Affordable Snapshot.com  Affordable Websites for Small business
